by Ryan Collins

It's been an epic week here at My Fishing Cape Cod, and I’m pumped to share some of the exciting fishing stories and catches from our awesome community. The forum's been buzzing with activity, and I'm hyped to highlight some of the top catches and memorable moments from the past few days.

Let's dive in and check out just a few of the recent reports from our dedicated members. Keep scrolling to read more, or use the table of contents to jump to a specific section.

Johan Frenje’s Stealthy Fly Fishing Hunt

Johan Frenje, one of our top posters with 7.4K likes since joining in 2020, has been passionately sight fishing flats for striped bass. His stealthy approach adds an exciting dimension to his fly fishing adventures.

Johan Frenje’s Stealthy Bass Hunt

Johan Frenje, one of our top posters with 7.4K likes since joining in 2020, has been passionately sight fishing flats for bass.

Johan shared...

"7 hours of grind, with one time period of about 30 minutes of feeding fish along a rock line adjacent to the flat. Landed a few fish including a couple of teen fish."

But the day didn't end as planned...

"When it was about time to go home, my car wouldn’t start. The anti-theft system didn’t recognize my car key and the alarm went off," he recounted.

Despite car troubles and an unexpected 90-mile ride home with AAA, Johan’s dedication shined through yet again!

Chris Kline’s Southern Success

Chris Kline had a tough time in upper Buzzards Bay, so he decided to head south, WAY SOUTH to find the life! We're waiting to hear more details on whether Chris was fishing off Costa Rica, Panama, or somewhere else, but here's a photo of his big roosterfish from a couple days ago.
Sometimes, a change in location is all it takes to turn a challenging day into a successful one.

Chris Kline joined MFCC  in 2017 and since that time he has contributed a lot of kayak fishing advice and information  via his many posts inside our forum.

Marshall Roy’s New Personal Best

On July 19th Marshall Roy had an unforgettable tide, landing eight fish, with the smallest being 22 pounds.

According to Marshall's report...

"1 fish 34 lbs on my darter, 1 fish 36 lbs on a GT eel, 1 fish (new surf PB) 43 lbs on a 9” eely sluggo."
Marshall Roy had an unforgettable tide, landing eight fish, with the smallest being 22 pounds.

Marshall Roy joined My Fishing Cape Cod back in May of 2022. Aside from surfcasting, Marshall also enjoys making his own plugs.

Father-Son Fishing at Monomoy

On July 21st Eddy Kooyomjian, of of our top posters inside the forum and a member since 2021, had a memorable trip to Monomoy with his son Jack. They navigated the tides and set up a troll with 4” lipped minnows at 5 knots.

Eddy shared...

I made a trip out to Monomoy with my son, Jack. We left Stage Harbor at 7:30, to let some of the weather get by and also to pass dead low tide by an hour. Point Rip held life and was a washing machine at the tide turn and the water was pretty warm out there.

His report continued...

We set up two 4” lipped minnows on a troll of 5 knots. I’m starting to look for fish with a fork tail and if I get blues and bass, great. Striped Bass were hitting the lures at that speed and the color of their choice was an electric chicken color.
Eddy Kooyomjian Jr. had a memorable trip to Monomoy with his son, Jack.

Eddy's son Jack hooked on the troll with a nice fish!

Eddy and Jack's trip did not stop there....

We rounded the point and continued our speed troll efforts in the smooth water. The timing of the tide to the formations was a bit off today. Bearses and Pollock were flat with a few birds diving sporadically.
We made another move to look for cooler water. Ever the water at Pollock was in the upper 60’s which seemed unusual. We went north all the way towards the Chatham cut and there were birds feeding in 3” sand eels.

According to reports there's been a bunch of small sand eels of Chatham this week.

As Eddy alluded to, the sand eel bite can be great and frustrating all at once. However during this trip, Eddy's 4 inch Sand Eel Lipped Minnow worked great when retrieved just below the surface.

Richard Montague’s MFCC Group Trip Experience

Richard Montague had a fantastic time onboard our July 19th My Fishing Cape Cod group fishing trip. "For the next 3+ hours we were kept busy catching stripers and 10 lb. blues," Richard enthused.

James Durso's Dense Fog Adventure

Richard joined My Fishing Cape Cod during March of 2024. It's great having him onboard the site!

The variety of lures and techniques used, from topwater plastics to deep water plugs, made for an action-packed trip.

Richard added, "I had a blast with bigger stripers grabbing the mackerel and running with it before setting the circle hook. A day like this makes losing a bit of beauty sleep absolutely worth it!"

Joe Marvi Boston Harbor Kayak Fishing

On July 20th Joe Marvi, who's been a member of My Fishing Cape Cod since 2019, reported slow action in Boston Harbor.

However Joe still managed to find some fish despite the lack of bait. It’s a reminder that persistence often pays off, even on slow days.

In Conclusion

These are just a few of the epic stories and catches from this past week. Seriously, there have been so many great catches recently, from early season bonito to freshwater largemouths and everything in between. I’d be writing all day if I tried to include them all!

The Cape Cod fishing season is definitely in full swing. To all our members, keep those adventures and tips coming on the forum. We all appreciate it so much.

Tight lines! 🎣
