Kevin Collins
Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of the My Fishing Cape Cod Podcast.
I'm your host Kevin Collins, glad to be back with you for another week.
August has arrived on Cape and big bass, blues and tuna are biting despite the heat. We discuss all that and more in this week's podcast.
First up is MFCC creator Ryan Collins. Ryan shares with us details about the 30 pound bass he's been catching from shore, the acres of adult pogies he saw in a recent boat trip, and how he's experimenting with handlines.
In this episode we welcome an exciting guest and new owner of Nantucket Tackle Center, Matt Reinemo. Matt lets us know what's up with bonito and other species around the island.
As always we catch up with captain Eric Stewart from the Goose Hummock Shops in Orleans and Dennis. Eric has been virtually living offshore pusuing tuna and other offshore species.
Lastly, Jeff Miller of Canal Bait & Tackle will join the show, and provides us with positive news coming out of the Cape Cod Canal and throughout Cape Cod Bay.

I hope you all enjoy this week's podcast and are able to get out fishing this weekend. Until we chat again next Friday...
Tight Lines!
Any good fishing from shore around Chatam vacuity?
There can be Bill, however the seals at Nauset have been problematic.
Have you ever tried Hardings Beach or the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge? > https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g41499-d105276-Reviews-Monomoy_National_Wildlife_Refuge-Chatham_Cape_Cod_Massachusetts.html
Any hot spots for shore fishing in the next few days?
Whereabouts are you based Steve? Big fish have settled into many areas throughout the Cape and I expect the surfcasting to be good right through October.
Might not hit ’em big each trip but the fish are there and you’ll always have a chance as long as you are putting in the time. Do you surfcast a lot? What is your level of experience?
Hey guys great podcast! I am going to Canal tomorrow around six ? Any tips where my father in law and I should be at. Using savage eels as no one has real eels anywhere. Any other lures we should look to be using?
4oz Savage Sandeels are always a good choice.
There are fish around in the canal for sure. Just move around and keep at it. Dawn/dusk/night are best right now.
I can’t seem to find reports on surfcasting Nantucket. Any info would be great.
We are working on building out coverage of the Islands.
However in this podcast episode, Matt Reinemo does touch upon surfcasting on Nantucket.
More to come next year and into the future.
Caught some cows recently .Fishing is hot. Will be tuna fishing soon off Prince Edward Island. Great time to stop everything and fish. Good info. Thanks, Kevin
Thanks Uncle Jake! Great being out on the Mrs. Loretta with you last night!
I really thank you guys for this positive report. For the first time it’s giving me the motivation to get out there. I got Tues and wends off this week and I’m defiantly thinking of hitting the outer beaches, for the first time. If someone has those days off and could let me tag along, even to just get access that would be cool.
Happy Hobie Guy,
Glad to hear you are….well…..HAPPY! That is good news. Happy to bring you the podcast each week and glad we inspired you to get out there and do some fishing! I will be stuck in the studio, but wish you the best of luck!
